2024 Parish Campout!
When:
Sunday afternoon, August 18 through Wednesday, August 21, 2024.
Where:
Cougar Rock Campground at Mt. Rainier National Park. We have reserved Group Site F2. The campground is accessible from the southwest entrance via State Route 706, past the town of Elbe.
- Headquarters: Group Site F2 for worship, meals, and activities.
- Note: Only tents are allowed at the group site; no RVs.
Meal Costs:
- All meals are provided from Sunday dinner through Wednesday lunch.
- Cost: $7.00 per person per meal, children 4 & under eat free.
- Full meal plan (eight meals): $56.00 per person.
- Note: We serve regular “Costco” type fare and cannot accommodate food allergies or special preparations at the group site.
Tent Fees:
- $8.00 per tent per night.
- Full duration (three nights): $24.00 per tent.

- Deadline: Registration and fees must be received by Sunday, August 11, 2024.
- Capacity: Limited to the first 50 campers.
- Refunds: No refunds after August 5, 2024.
Park Entrance Fee:
- $30 for a private, noncommercial vehicle (seating capacity of 15 or less). This fee covers a seven-day entrance permit.
- Park Entry: The Mount Rainier National Park does have a timed entry system, however our group site reservation at Cougar Rock Campground are valid for park entry any time after 1pm with a copy of the site reserveration. A copy of our group reservation will be sent to your email before the campout. The $30 entrance fee applies regardless of the time of day.
What to Expect:
- Meal preparation and cleanup will be a group effort.
- Sack lunches provided; free time during the day.
- Evening campfires—bring your instruments!
- Opportunities for hiking and other activities.
- For hikes, bring a rucksack, water bottle, sturdy shoes, socks, and a hat.
- Day hikes will be discussed at evening and morning campfires.
- Family Event: No alcohol at parish-reserved sites.
- Parental Responsibility: Parents must supervise children at all times, especially around campfires and food lines. Children should not play in cooking areas or near the U-Haul truck.
Daily Campout Schedule:
- 8:00 a.m.: Third & Sixth Hours, followed by a short talk.
- 8:30 a.m.: Breakfast.
- 10:00 - 10:30 a.m.: Hike departure.
- Lunch: Flexible timing and location.
- 6:00 p.m.: Vespers, followed by dinner.
- 8:15 p.m.: Campfire (at sunset).
We Need Your Help:
- Sunday, August 18: Help load the truck after Liturgy. We'll fill ice chests, load coolers, and pack everything onto the trucks before heading to the campground.
- Wednesday, August 21: Assist with site cleanup and loading the truck.
- Back at Holy Resurrection: Help unload the 20’ U-Haul truck. Many hands make light work!
