The Holy Myrrhbearers were those women disciples who followed and served our Lord during His earthly ministry. Bearing myrrh and sweet spices to anoint the body of the Lord as He lay in the tomb, they became the first bearers of the Good News of the Resurrection of Christ when they found the stone rolled away and the tomb empty. They became the Apostles to the Apostles! The Feast of the Holy Myrrhbearers is the third Sunday after Pascha (Easter).

Our parish women’s auxiliary, the Myrrhbearers Sisterhood, continues to minister to Christ in His Church. They minister to those in need by making charitable contributions, and to our parish by purchasing everything from major appliances to vestments and other items required for worship.

Parish programs supported by the Myrrhbearers include coordinating Sunday coffee hours and lenten soup suppers; serving meals on Pascha (Easter), Palm Sunday, Annunciation and other special occasions; wedding and baby showers; the St. Nicholas children’s party, and the annual parish campout to Mt. Rainier. The Myrrhbearers support financial contributions by sponsoring a “sandwich sale” once a month. This sale consists of a luncheon plate, and can be anything from Swedish pancakes to Oktoberfest.

The Myrrhbearers meet once each month, usually at 5:00 p.m. on the Saturday before a Sunday sandwich sale (check the parish calendar). They hold a meeting and prep the sandwich sale at the same time!

All the women who worship at Holy Resurrection Parish are most welcome to attend our meetings and become involved in the Holy Myrrhbearers Sisterhood!
