Rejoice, Unwedded Bride: Praying with Our Mother Throughout the Year
The Orthodox Church has a wealth of hymnography about the Mother of God. During Lent we frequently sing her Akathist Hymn, while in the Dormition Fast we often sing the Paraklesis. How can we better learn to love Our Mother through Her hymns? Join us for an exploration of structure and poetry of the Akathist to the Mother of God and discussion of how to use it and other prayers and hymns to grow closer to the Queen of Heaven in our daily lives.

$30.00 - Lunch Provided Dr. Erin Moulton has a deep love for education and has been teaching in various settings for over 25 years. She holds a PhD in Slavic linguistics from the University of Kansas and has also studied at Washington University in Saint Louis, Missouri, and in Saint Petersburg, Russia. In the past, she served as an instructor of Russian language, literature, and culture at University of Kansas. As a classroom instructor and tutor, she has extensive experience teaching integrated liberal arts, grammar, literature, poetry, composition, Russian, German, and all math subjects from elementary math through pre-calculus. She has taught and tutored in online settings both at the University of Kansas, St Raphael School, and Schole Academy. Erin has worked professionally as an editor, copywriter, and project manager in the fields of international compliance and revenue operations. She also serves as youth communications liaison for the Orthodox Church in America Diocese of the Midwest and was formerly board president of the Orthodox Christian Translation Society. Erin and her husband, Christian, are parishioners at Holy Trinity Church in Overland Park, Kansas, where she is on the parish council, teaches church school, and assists in overseeing a multiyear cycle of curriculum for the parish. Erin and Christian have four children, all of whom she educated at home over the course of 18 years. |
